Windows 7 Available
Should you upgrade?

Yes, the day is finally here, Windows 7 will be available this Thursday, October 22nd. And we know many of you have questions. The biggest question is, should you run out and buy it? No, we are not recommending purchasing Windows 7 at this time. When a new operating system is released generally within those first couple months a lot of issues are found. Those issues can be a headache to deal with, so save yourself the headache and wait a few months or at least consult with us first.

Forrester Research is suggesting being completely upgraded by 2012, which is still 3 years away, so you have plenty of time. When you are ready to upgrade there are things to consider, such as:

  • Do you have enough memory?
  • Is all of your equipment compatible (printers, copiers, etc)?
  • Will the applications you need to run your business run on Windows 7?

You may be asking yourself, when should we upgrade to the new Windows OS? If you have Windows XP we suggest waiting till Microsoft releases service pack 1 or at least 1 year. If you are currently running Windows Vista and are having issues then upgrading to Windows 7 sooner rather then later might be a better option for you.

Keep in mind we are not saying there is anything wrong with Windows 7. We have actually heard a lot of good reviews. We just want to make sure you don't run into any issues if you upgrade to Windows 7 too soon. At Onsite we'll be testing Windows 7 and we'll let you know when we think you should start upgrading your computers.
